Conway Mocks Dems for Supporting ‘White, Career Politicians’ at Ohio GOP Dinner

White House advisor Kellyanne Conway delivered the keynote address Saturday night at the Ohio Republican Party’s annual State Dinner.

The senior aide to President Donald Trump criticized the Democratic Party’s electorate for being “racist and sexist.”

“Their top three candidates are white, career politicians in their 60s and 70s, which I have nothing against except they (Democrats) certainly do,” Conway said, several media outlets reported Sunday. “I don’t know why the heck the Democratic Party electorate is so racist and sexist. I can’t figure it out.”

She also took a shot at New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, who dropped out of the presidential race on Friday. Conway said de Blasio “had about as many people at a rally in Iowa as I have at my family dinner table.”

And she couldn’t forget former Ohio Gov. John Kasich, a vocal Trump critic. Conway recalled the crowd size for a 2016 Trump campaign rally at the Mahoning County Fair in 2016, noting that the “only person not there that day was John Kasich.”

On a more serious note, Conway encouraged Republican women to enter politics during a conversation with Ohio Republican Party Chairwoman Jane Timken.

“The number one impediment for many women not running for office is nobody ever asked them to do it,” said Conway, the first woman to manage a successful presidential campaign. She said that “women absolutely have a seat at the table” in the Trump administration and emphasized the role women played in Trump’s 2016 campaign.

She said many women might be turned off by the divisiveness of politics, but encouraged women to take their “angst and go put it into greatness.”

“I think one thing is to say to women in your peer group, ‘I can understand why you might hate politics, why you say politics is an awful game, it’s toxic, people are just mean to each other, they get nothing done in the state capitol or Washington, D.C.,’” said Conway, according to The Columbus Dispatch. “I think you’ve got to admit to people, to women, that you can understand why people say they hate politics, but they don’t hate public policy. And politics is just a means to the ends they care so much about.”

Timken thanked Conway for attending the dinner on Twitter Saturday night.

“Amazing Ohio GOP State Dinner with Kellyanne Conway. Our party is unified and ready for 2020 to reelect Donald Trump,” Timken said.
