Congressman Jordan on Volker Testimony: No ‘Quid Pro Quo’ and No Political Pressure

Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH-04) tweeted Friday that former Ambassador to Ukraine, Kurt Volker, revealed no “quid pro quo” or political pressure was applied by President Trump to his Ukrainian counterpart in their July 25th phone call that has become the subject of an impeachment inquiry.

Jordan referred to the hours-long deposition that Volker provided behind closed doors for the Democrats’ impeachment inquiry Thursday, led by Congressman Adam B. Schiff (D-CA-28), Chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.

The day of the testimony, Jordan shared, “The facts we learned today from Ambassador Volker undercut the salacious narrative that @RepAdamSchiff is using to sell his impeachment ambitions. We hope the American people get to read the transcript of today’s testimony and see the truth.”

The Congressman spoke with Sean Hannity about Volker’s testimony late Thursday night.

“So first the Democrats got burned yesterday because they were expecting the evidence and the proof and the documents. What they found was evidence that Ukrainian government worked hand-in-hand to undermine Trump in the 2016 election – I thought we cared about it,” Hannity exclaimed.

He followed with, “And then you were in the room today, and I hear on a scale of 1 to 10 it was a 12, in terms of backfiring on the Democrats and blowing up in their face. Tell us.”

“Sean, I hope every American gets a chance to read what took place in that room today [Thursday]. Because when they do, they will see there was no quid pro quo, they will see exactly what President Trump and President Zelenskyy was going on between these two countries, and they’ll see what a good Ambassador, what a good diplomat, Kurt Volker was, Ambassador Volker, and the people that work with him.”

Hannity expressed frustration about the lack of transparency on the part of the Democrats. He wants the transcript of the testimony released.

“…The President is the one who has been transparent and democrats are the ones who’ve been hiding everything and now of course, with a complicit media, trying to hide the activities of Joe Biden,” said Gregg Jarrett, FoxNews Legal Analyst. “The President had every right, and it’s incumbent upon him, if he has some information that a former Vice President, who’s now running for President of the United States, committed a corrupt act…”

Jordan wrapped it up, “The President’s been transparent here. I hope everyone else can be as transparent, and the American people can see for themselves what took place.”

The Congressman’s hope was at least partially fulfilled by the release of Ambassador Volker’s eleven page written statement to the House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs, Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, and Committee on Oversight late Friday.
