Rep. Tim Ryan, Other Democrats Show They Have Been on Impeachment Witch Hunt All Along, GOP Says

Thursday’s vote by Democrats goes to show that the impeachment process has been a witch hunt and a sham all along, and Democrats, including U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH-13), have thrown all precedent, due process and transparency out in their quest to take down President Donald Trump, the Republican National Committee said.

“Ohio Democrats like Tim Ryan chose to side with Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff and the socialist squad over their constituents, and have officially committed political malpractice. Americans will remember how these Democrats chose to pursue division and investigation over progress and promises,” Republican National Committee Spokesperson Mandi Merritt said, and pointed people to a website that provides facts on the issue.

The Democratic-led House on Halloween approved impeachment resolution rules, The Ohio Star reported. House Resolution 660 passed along sharp party lines 232-196. Just two Democrats voting against the measure. All of the House Republicans voted “no.”

Merritt said this resolution is deeply flawed and gives Democrats on the Intelligence Committee – led by U.S. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA-28) – ultimate power, breaking with precedent.

Merritt pointed to a tweet from U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH-04):

“Dems’ impeachment resolution
-Cuts Oversight and Foreign Affairs out of public hearings
-Pretends to give @DevinNunes subpoena authority, subject to Schiff’s approval
-No Due Process for the WH
-Doesn’t undo the damage of Schiff’s biased and unfair sham”.

U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX-10) tweeted:

“Before Pelosi’s partisan resolution= 110 Members allowed to participate in investigation

After Pelosi’s partisan resolution=22 Members allowed to participate in investigation

Fewer members involved = fewer voices of the American people in this serious matter of impeachment.”

Breitbart reports that Democrats’ efforts may be hurting their party.

According to surveys of 3,400 likely voters, which were conducted October 1- 24, 2019, on a weekly basis, Trump’s favorability among Republicans has increased amid the House Democrat impeachment efforts. Additionally, Trump’s approval has increased by three points in the RNC’s 17 “target states” since House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA)  announcement of the inquiry.

It also found that, in those 17 target states, voters “oppose Democrats’ efforts to remove President Trump from office by a 14-point margin.”

“70% believe this is ‘all politics’ and would prefer Congressional Democrats focus on issues like health care, trade, and the economy,” the survey found.
