Senator Sherrod Brown Claims ‘Nixon Didn’t Even Do What Trump Is Doing’

Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) told reporters Wednesday, “Nixon didn’t even do what Trump is doing.” He also responded to a question about whether or not President Trump should be impeached with a simple, “Yes,” but Brown’s office clarified that did not mean the Senator had made a decision about whether or not the President should be removed from office.

Brown was answering questions from the media about the Ukraine narrative that alleges President Trump was withholding Congressionally approved funds from Ukraine unless that nation investigated one of his potential Democratic Presidential nominees, former Vice President Joe Biden. The transcript of the call between Trump and Ukranian President Zelensky was released by the White House.

Both Trump and Zelensky have declared there is no quid pro quo. Ukraine has the funds that were in question and no information about Biden was delivered.

Brown has been a constant critic of President Trump. He has criticized the President on tariffs. “Sen. Sherrod Brown Criticizes How President Trump Is Handling Tariffs,” tweeted WOSU News.

Brown criticized the President’s statements about Ohio’s manufacturing. The Canton Repository reported, “Sen. Sherrod Brown criticizes President Trump’s automotive claims on new Ohio plants.”

The Senator criticized President Trump’s foreign policy. A Dispatch reporter tweeted, “After secret briefing on Iran, Ohio Dem Sen Sherrod Brown criticizes Donald Trump administration’s ‘reckless’ approach.”

Brown has actually been criticizing Donald Trump since before he was inaugurated. One Twitter-user noted, “Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown criticizes Donald Trump for appointing Stephen Bannon to cabinet…”

President Trump responded to the of criticism Thursday: “READ THE TRANSCRIPT!”
