Jim Jordan Addresses Rumor He May Be Temporarily Added to the House Intel Committee to Push Back on Impeachment

 

During an interview with Fox & Friends Tuesday morning, Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH-04) made news when he was asked whether he was going to be added to the House Intelligence Committee. Jordan, who is currently on House Oversight, responded, “We’ll see. That’s a call for Leader McCarthy. If Kevin and ranking member Nunes want that to happen, I just want to help our team.”

He added, “I want to help the country to see the truth here, that President Trump didn’t do anything wrong, and what the Democrats are doing is partisan, it’s unfair and frankly it’s ridiculous. Particularly that they went about with these secret meetings in a bunker in the basement of the Capitol.”

The Ohio Congressman talked about the importance of hearing from the whistleblower directly in committee, “One of the ways you determine someone’s credibility, determine what there motivation is, what kind of biases they may have, is they need to be under oath, standing with their right hand, answering your questions.”

“Frankly the position we have is the same position Adam Schiff had six weeks ago,” Jordan explained. “Remember when this first happened Adam Schiff said we need to hear from the whistleblower, and then six weeks later he said, ‘No, no, no, we don’t.’ One thing happened in that six week time frame, namely that Adam Schiff’s staff met with the whistleblower.”

Jordan believes the whistleblower needs to come and answer questions face-to-face for committee members and the American people. He also commented on the accusations against the President for using individuals outside of the diplomatic corp to work on his behalf in foreign countries.

“We sort of have this kind of fundamental concern from some of the folks in the diplomatic area that somehow the unelected people tell the elected person what to do. That’s not how it works in our great country,” Jordan declared.

“The President of the United States is the one we elected, we the people elected. He’s the one who determines policy and he’s the one who’s going to decide who’s going to be ambassadors and who’s going to the diplomatic missions that he thinks need to be done,” he emphasized.

When asked about the process going forward, the Congressman did not believe Adam Schiff (D-CA-28) would testify. Jordan said, “…It’s still a sham process…we [Republicans] have to provide a witness list, but Adam Schiff decides if they get to come or not. So he’s in charge, I don’t think he will testify. He should, but I don’t think he will.”
