State Sen. Kerry Roberts (R-Springfield) is reportedly recovering from an aneurysm.
Lt. Gov. Randy McNally on Friday night tweeted, “My thoughts and prayers are with Senator @kerryeroberts tonight. Senator Roberts was taken to the hospital this afternoon after suffering an aneurysm. He is currently stable and alert. He will be kept at the hospital for observation as he recovers.”

Darlene Schlicher, Senate Republican Caucus press secretary, said in a statement, “Senator Roberts is resting comfortably today. Although preliminary tests look good, he will continue to be closely monitored by hospital staff in the coming days. The Roberts family is very grateful for the excellent care that he has received from first responders and hospital staff. They are also very thankful for the outpouring of concern and for the thoughts and prayers lifted on his behalf.”
Roberts has made frequent appearances on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.
Most recently, on one episode in June, the senator weighed in on the Fetal Heartbeat Bill and COVID-19 liability bill as well as John Bolton’s new book and President Donald Trump’s decision-making tendencies.
In another recent episode of The Tennessee Star Report in June, Roberts and Leahy discussed how Nashville Mayor John Cooper made it difficult for the Republican National Convention to come to Nashville. Roberts said, “We are not going fix this world. Sorry for saying this if this offends somebody, but we’re not going to fix this world until people come to know Jesus Christ. You love your neighbor. You don’t hate your neighbor. You don’t wish ill on them. You want good for other people.”
Roberts is married to Dianne, and the couple has three children, according to his Legislature biography. He is a 1983 graduate of Lipscomb University and is president of Resource Network LLC. His committee assignments include the chairmanship of the Senate Government Operations Committee.
His most recent honors, from earlier this year, are the 2020 Taxpayer Hero award from Americans for Prosperity and the 2020 Guardian of Small Business award from the National Federation of Independent Business.
According to his campaign website, Roberts said, “When you elected me to be your state senator in 2014 and again in 2018, you hired me to serve and represent you. During these past few years, I’ve had the blessing of helping folks with local, state, or federal government. Whether teachers dealing with the repeated failures of TNReady, single mothers struggling with TennCare, elderly folks losing SNAP EBT cards, veterans trying to claim benefits that have been denied, farmers fighting the EPA, or commuters calling out TDOT for needed road repairs, our office has become the “help desk” for Tennesseans in Robertson, Cheatham, Dickson, Hickman, and Humphreys counties. It is truly an honor to serve.”
