Ohio Rep. Bob Gibbs Leads Group That Files Articles of Impeachment Against Biden

U.S. Representative Bob Gibbs (R-OH-07) on Tuesday introduced articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden, pointing to the ongoing border crisis and the chaotic Afghanistan withdrawal.

Reps. Andy Biggs (R-AZ-05), Brian Babin (R-TX-36), and Randy Weber (R-TX-14) announced their support of the measure and signed on as co-sponsors of the articles of impeachment.

“He’s not capable of being commander in chief, and that’s obvious by the actions since Day One when he took the presidency back in January,” Gibbs told the Washington Examiner. “Maybe something like this makes the White House think twice before they do some of this nonsense.”

The first charge claims Biden “violated his constitutional oath to faithfully execute the office of President” due to the ongoing crisis along the U.S. Southern border.

Furthermore, the second charge details Biden abused his executive power by extending the eviction moratorium, despite a warning from the Supreme Court.

Finally, the third article alleges that the president “failed to act responsibly as Commander in Chief with regard to the withdrawal of United States forces from Afghanistan.”

Earlier this year, Gibbs wrote a letter to House Republican colleagues urging them to “consider and debate filing articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden.” The move from Gibbs followed Biden allowing a directive from the CDC on eviction moratoriums, while admitting its questionable legality.

“President Biden’s recent actions on the border represent a blatant dereliction of his constitutionally prescribed duties. Moreover, his shameless disregard for the limitations of his executive authority is a violation of his oath of office. Many of us were witness to the politically motivated impeachment proceedings of the previous four years. As conservatives and Republicans, I believe we understand impeachment is a serious constitutional mechanism, meant to be used only in the rarest and most grave circumstances,” Gibbs wrote at the time.
