Alex Triantafilou Announces Bid for Chairman of Ohio Republican Party

Hamilton County Republican Party Chairman Alex Triantafilou officially announced his candidacy for chairman of the Ohio Republican Party following the announcement that current Chairman Bob Paduchik would not be seeking another term.

“Our party faces a huge challenge in 2024. Defeating Sherrod Brown and Joe Biden will require a unified and organized state party. I look forward to traveling throughout Ohio to share my vision for our party with Republican leaders in every corner of Ohio,” Triantafilou said on social media.

Triantafilou has served as chairman of the Hamilton County Republican Party since 2008, as well as a Hamilton County prosecutor and a judge on two courts. Before serving as a judge, Triantafilou served as vice-chairman of the Bush-Cheney 2004 campaign. He is a former president of the Green Township Republican Club and a former member of the Republican Executive and Judicial Screening Committee.

According to the Hamilton County GOP, as chairman, Triantafilou has pushed for innovations in online communication and is a recognized leader in the use and implementation of social media to deliver political messaging. He has also made finding, fielding, recruiting, and retaining great candidates for public office the number one job of the local party.

According to Triantafilou, he will travel across the state over the next several weeks to meet with State Central Committee members, elected officials, and key party leaders to discuss his vision for the Ohio Republican Party.

“My vision for the party is to be principled, well-funded, well-staffed, and organized entity that truly acts as a service organization for all Republican candidates. Having run a large, diverse, and strong county party for more than a decade, I know the difficulties that lay ahead. I believe I am uniquely suited to lead this Party during this critical time,” Triantafilou said in a statement to WHIOTV7.

Summit County GOP Chair and statewide party Vice-Chair Bryan Williams, who had tried to challenge Paduchik after the August primary as leader of the Ohio Republican Party, confirmed to the Statehouse News Bureau that he wouldn’t run for chair. But he said he is working with a coalition “to support the best candidate.”

According to Triantafilou, the election for the Ohio Republican Party chairman will be held at the next Republican State Central Committee meeting.
