The Battleground State Report: Trump’s Unpredictability Is a Game Changer Both Foreign and Domestic

During a live recording on Friday’s Battleground State Report with Michael Patrick Leahy and Doug Kellett – a one-hour radio show from Star News Digital Media in the early stages of national weekend syndication rollout – with Kellett out of the studio, Leahy welcomed Tennessee Star Report‘s all-star panelist Crom Carmichael to the show.

During the first segment, Leahy and Carmichael discussed Trump’s recent move with Iran and how his unpredictability will serve him well and creates a game-changer in foreign and domestic policy.

Leahy: The first Saturday in 2020. Doug Kellett, who usually is our co-host, is out today. He’ll be back next week. Sitting here with me today is our good friend and original all-star panelist on the Tennessee Star Report Crom Carmichael. Good morning Crom.

Carmichael: Good morning. How are you, sir?

Leahy: I’m delighted to be on the air again here talking about the 2020 campaign. Now, on our other program, we had talked a little bit about a game-changer and you pointed out the significance of this change. As you elaborated on it, I think I came to believe that you’re quite right. That the report came that earlier this week on Thursday the United States military forces in an airstrike killed the leader of the Iranian militia who was in…

Carmichael: The revolutionary guard. He runs their military. It is their military.

Leahy: Their military leader who by the way had been assigned to go over to Baghdad, Iraq, another country and insight a combo Iranian basically led militia to attack the American embassy. The guy’s name is Soleimani.

Carmichael: Was.

Leahy: Was. He’s dead as a doornail.

Carmichael: And so is his number two.

Leahy: Now you said that this is going to have a real significant change, not only in the international arena and how countries respond to us, but also domestically. Tell us a little bit about that.

Carmichael: Well, what you’re seeing here is that the Democrats have reflexively come out and said that what Trump has done in having this guy killed is a terrible policy. A terrible policy mistake. Biden has come out and said he’s thrown dynamite into a tinderbox.

Now let’s remember that Joe Biden is the person that told then-President Obama and advised him not to go after Osama Bin Landen when Obama did actually go after Osama Bin Laden.

Leahy: The one time President Obama did the right thing on foreign policy, Joe Biden, the Democratic front runner, or leader, now is advising not to do it.

Carmichael: Yeah. Joe Biden is one of the most consistently wrong person on foreign policy perhaps in US history. (Leahy chuckles) I mean, the guy whatever he says, you know, well … we need to do the other.

Leahy: It’s like that Seinfeld episode. (Chuckles)

Carmichael: He is just a buffoon when it comes to foreign policy and he thinks you can give people the money and they will then behave the way that they’ve promised even though these are people who are known to use the money to spread terrorism.

It’s a little bit like, I think you said earlier today, don’t give money to a panhandler because a panhandler generally uses the money to buy drugs or buy alcohol or do something with the cash that hurts them personally. Well, in this case, Biden would give money to Kim Jun-Young rather than…

Leahy: Oh yeah.

Carmichael: He’d give money to him. He gave money and supported the Iranian deal. And so the game changer here is that now people recognize that Trump is very unpredictable.

Leahy: Yes.

Carmichael: And that’s a good place for Trump to be.
