Battleground State Report: Irrational Judgment and What the Democrats Are Actually Offering

On Friday’s Battleground State Report with Steve Gill and Michael Patrick Leahy – a one hour radio show from Star News Digital Media in the early stages of a national weekend syndication roll out – the team discussed the current repeal of abortion legislation in Illinois and the diseases in Democratic governed California.

Towards the end of the segment, Kellett raised the question asking, what are the Democrats actually offering?

Gill: You just can’t make some of this stuff up. I mean you’ve had these states that have elected blue state governors that previously were purple or red and then people are getting a chance to see what a Democrat governor actually does. We’ve seen that in Colorado where Jared Polis extreme liberal is attacking the oil and gas industry trying to kill jobs in Colorado. When you look at Illinois where they elected a Democrat Governor and promptly with the Democrat legislature and Governor they decide to repeal the partial birth abortion ban and put in policies that will allow unlicensed, unregulated, no health requirement abortion clinics. (Leahy chuckles)

You know we’ve been told so long that, “Well we need to make sure that abortion is safe and legal and rare.” Well they’ve certainly made it legal up until the after birth portion. They’re not making it safe when you have unlicensed, unregulated abortion clinics where apparently any back alley will do. And it’s certainly not rare when they even proceed with allowing partial birth abortions. So in state after state, you’ve got North Carolina Democrat governor gets elected, vetoes a bill to protect late term babies from abortion.

And the Democrats in the legislature are reluctant to go against their Democrat governor. Again this is setting the stage for particularly third trimester issue of pro-life t be a key issue in battleground states where even pro-abortionists support bans on abortion in that last trimester. In those last few weeks. In that post birth period. So the Democrats are moving so far to the left in those states where they got control with their Democrat governors.

So let’s look at New Mexico a state where you’re hearing some rumblings that the Republicans may make a pitch for. You’ve got an open seat in the US Senate. You got a state that has elected Republicans like Suzanna Martinez as governor not to long ago. Well the Democrats have a new governor and they have control of the state legislature. So New Mexico has decided to add opioid use as a condition for medical pot. So you’re addicted (Leahy laughs) to opioids so we’re going to let you smoke pot. It’s kind of like somebody goes in and says, “You know I’m addicted to Jack Daniels whisky. Can you prescribe me some cold beer?

Leahy: There you go.

Gill: It is again idiocy at work when you are a drug addict giving you another drug doesn’t solve the problem and yet that’s where New Mexico is going. They’re not letting rational judgement dictate. It’s what can fit our agenda as bizarre as this one may be.

Leahy: Well if you want to talk about irrational judgement just take a look at, it’s not a battleground state at all. But take a look at the Democratic positions in the state of California. Now here’a a state, now they have problems, because they have so many illegals coming in to California, because they have such a problem with homelessness because they encourage it, they’ve got like you know diseases rampant in LA. They’ve got typhus. They’ve got you know…

Gill: Bubonic plague.

Leahy: Bubonic plague it’s back! It’s back!

Gill: You know one of Doug’s favorite movies is Monty Python and the Holy Grail. I just have this vision of guys going through the streets ringing bells going, “Bring out your dead! Bring out your dead!” (Kellet and Leahy laughing) In Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Leahy: Oh man.

Kellett: That was the guy right who had the arms cut off in that movie too I think moving around? (Gill and Leahy chuckles)

Gill: (British accent) “I’ll bite you. I’ll bite you.”

Kellett: That was a classic.

Gill: (British accent)  “I’m really feeling much better, I’m not dead.”

Kellett: You know you were talking about Bernie Sanders and the Democrat candidates and I ask this seriously, what exactly do the Democrats stand for?  What are they offering to the American people? I know you guys were talking about how this won’t be an election about persuasion of issues. I guess I’m kind of old fashioned. I really think issues should matter so what exactly are they offering? Are they offering eight years of the malaise economically of Obama? Are they offering more regulation the strangle of business and everything?

Gill: If you like Venezuela you’re gong to love America under the Democrats.
