The Democratic Presidential Debate being held in Westerville, Ohio on October 15 has confirmed twelve candidates will be participating.
On Friday CNN announced the 12 candidates who qualified for the debate are, “…former Vice President Joe Biden; U.S. Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey; South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg; former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julián Castro, U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii; U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris of California; U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota; former U.S. Rep. Beto O’Rourke of Texas; U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont; businessman Tom Steyer, U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts; and businessman Andrew Yang.”
A Quinnipiac University poll last Wednesday found, “Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren is essentially tied with former Vice President Joe Biden…Warren gets 27 percent of the vote while Biden gets 25 percent of Democratic voters and independent voters who lean Democratic. Though well within the margin of error, this is the first time that a candidate other than Biden has had the numerical lead in the primary since Quinnipiac began asking the question in March.”
The poll further stated, “The top two candidates are followed by Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders with 16 percent, South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg at 7 percent, and California Senator Kamala Harris at 3 percent. While this is Harris’ lowest number yet, support for these candidates as well as the rest of the field has remained relatively stable since the last national poll in August. No other candidate tops 2 percent.”
