Former NCAA swimmer and conservative activist Riley Gaines was assaulted Thursday at San Francisco State University after giving a speech at a Turning Point USA and Leadership Institute event on the campus, her husband says.

“She told me she was hit multiple times by a guy in a dress,” said husband Louis Baker, according to Fox News. “I was shaking. It made me that mad. It makes me sick to feel so helpless about it. She was under police protection and was still hit by a man wearing a dress.”

Gaines, among the most vocal of athletes advocating against  biological males competing in women’s sports, had posted a video on Twitter that shows people screaming at her as she appears to be making her way down a hallway with at least one police officer on the scene.

One person can be heard saying, “Trans rights are human rights.” However, the video does not appear to clearly show her being struck.

The speech reportedly ended soon after it began as a result of similar heckling.

Barker said his wife was escorted to a safe room in which she was barricaded for nearly three hours.

“The prisoners are running the asylum at SFSU…I was ambushed and physically hit twice by a man,” Gaines said in her Twitter post. “This is proof that women need sex-protected spaces. Still only further assures me I’m doing something right. When they want you silent, speak louder.”

A SFSU spokesman said Friday no arrests related to the event were made but that the school “conducting an ongoing investigation into the situation.

“The disruption occurred after the conclusion of the event, which made it necessary for [campus police] officers to move the event speaker from the room to a different, safe location.”

Gaines’ agent, Eli Bremer, told Fox News Digital: “This will not stop Riley from boldly educating people of the dangers of biological males in women’s sports. She will continue to speak the truth against the radical left that no longer understands the difference between men and women.”
