Republican U.S. Senate candidate for Ohio Rep. Jim Renacci (R-OH-16) raised more than $1.75 million in the third quarter of 2018.
The impressive haul comes from more than 10,700 donors – each averaging a contribution to Renacci of about $160 each – who are seeking new represenation for Ohio in Washington.
Renacci’s opponent, 25-year Washington incumbent Sen. Sherrod Brown continues to get the majority of his campaign donations from outside Ohio. More than 76 percent of Renacci’s donations were from Ohioans.
“I got into this race only eight months ago against an incumbent who is a prolific fundraiser and who had been raising money for the last six years preparing for this campaign,” Renacci said in a statement. “But thanks to all of my supporters, we have been able to raise the money we need to defeat Sherrod Brown in November. It’s clear Ohioans are ready to retire Sherrod Brown.”
The amount raised includes contributions to the campaign’s two fundraising committees, Renacci for Senate and Renacci for Ohio Victory Fund. No loans or contributions from the candidate are included in the quarterly figure.

Over the past 25 years that he’s been in Washington Sherrod Brown has filled his campaign war chest with money from lobbyists, the big banks, his Hollywood friends, and fringe environmentalists. In fact, Sherrod Brown is the number-one recipient of money from Hollywood, the number-one recipient of money from insurance companies, the number-one recipient of money from pro-abortion groups, the number-two recipient of money from lobbyists and has collected more than $3.3 million from special-interest groups this cycle alone. Ohioans are tired of their senator caring more about pleasing his left-wing donors than doing what’s right for Ohio.
