Ohio Democratic Party Hosts Their National Chair Tom Perez for State Dinner in Columbus, RNC Weighs In

Ohio Democratic Party held their State Dinner in Columbus Sunday. Headlining their event was Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chair Tom Perez.

Republican National Committee Spokesperson Mandi Merritt shared her comments with The Ohio Star, “From supporting a bogus impeachment witch hunt, to advocating for failed socialist policies, the Democrats’ radical agenda is taking center state in Ohio. But no matter the candidate, not one 2020 wannabe will stack up to President Trump’s record of success in the Buckeye State.”

Back in Columbus, the Dems were celebrating. “We’re LIVE at the 2019 State Dinner, featuring @TheDemocrats Chair @TomPerez, @PeteButtigieg, @JulianCastro, @AmyKlobuchar, @TimRyan, @TomSteyer and @AndrewYang,” they tweeted, sharing a live feed link.

Perez had his own message to share before the event. “I’m fired up to be in central Ohio to listen to some of our 2020 presidential candidates’ vision for the future on Tuesday night. There’s a new grassroots movement growing in our country, and I couldn’t be more energized to be a part of it. #DemDebate.”

Perez is referring to the next Democratic Presidential Debate, scheduled for Tuesday evening in Westerville, Ohio. That event has caused anger and frustration on the Otterbein University campus, as reported by The Ohio Star, and has one Democratic Candidate, Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (D-02-HI), considering a boycott.

“I am seriously considering boycotting October 15 debate to bring attention to DNC/corporate media’s effort to rig the 2020 primary. Not against Bernie this time, but against voters in early states Iowa, New Hampshire, South… –>” she tweeted Friday, sharing a video explanation.

Gabbard claimed the DNC and the corporate media are trying to decide which of the Democratic Presidential contenders will be the nominee, and she claims this time early voting states will have their votes replaced with, “…polling and other arbitrary methods…In short, the DNC and the corporate media are trying to hijack the entire election process.”
