WARREN COUNTY, Ohio – Residents gathered at Pure Ministries Fellowship Church in Maineville on Thursday to hear from John and Diane Stover of Ohio Value Voters (OVV). They were joined by special guest Catherine Wood, president of Relationships Under Construction, an organization that provides healthy relationship education to students in Ohio schools.
“Ohio Value Voters continues to travel the state sharing the message of the Protect Ohio Children Coalition. Our goal is to share the evidence of Planned Parenthood and their allies in Ohio schools, while building a grassroots coalition of concerned parents and citizens,” John Stover, president of OVV, told The Ohio Star,
“The laws in the state of Ohio must be amended to protect the children from Planned Parenthood’s Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE),” he proclaimed. The following video was shared by OVV at the meeting:
It took two years for OVV to request records and research CSE in Ohio. The results were compiled into the Curriculum Report and the Public Records Report. These reports were hand delivered in early June to Gov. Mike DeWine, Senate President Larry Obhof, and Speaker of the House Larry Householder. OVV plans to work on legislation over the next few months.
Diane Stover revealed to listeners that, although Ohio has a law against pandering obscenity, it is also one of 43 states that exempts teachers and librarians from the legal consequences of violating the obscenity law. Ohioans saw the results of this exemption for libraries earlier this month with a “Drag 101” and related LGBT classes in Delaware and Licking County libraries.
A coalition of several international pro-family groups have put together a “Stop CSE” program. Their research has identified 15 harmful elements to children in CSE. Some of those include:
- sexualizes children – normalizing child sex and desensitizing children to sexual things
- promotes transgender ideology – encourages exploration of gender identity
- portrays anal and oral sex as normal/healthy while omitting vital medical facts about health risks
“Each of these 15 harmful elements has the potential of causing long-term negative effects on the health and well-being of children,” Stop CSE states. “Having even one of these elements should be reason enough to disqualify a program from being taught to children. A program containing several of these elements should be banned from use in any school or community setting.”

After Thursday’s program, parents and grandparents had many questions and lots of comments.
Lori Viars of Lebanon said: “I don’t think parents are aware of the obscene things being taught to very young children using curricula from Planned Parenthood and other liberal groups. I learned tonight that some of our local schools may actually be in violation of Ohio (obscenity) law.”
“I knew it was bad but I didn’t know it was this bad,” commented Tina Helsinger.
“I didn’t know there was so much propaganda promoting sexual deviancy in our elementary school classes,” proclaimed Barbara Burkard of Clearcreek Township. “Why are our children being bullied into accepting things contrary to their parents’ moral teaching?”
Dawn Duttkin of Franklin shared her concern that parents had been blinded by pretty packaging and information about CSE that covered up the pornographic nature of it. Joy Van Patten, another local resident said that “we’ve been such pushovers; they’ve pushed too far.”
The Stovers ended the evening by providing the crowd with information about how to find out what is being taught in their schools and additional resources for fighting pornographic CSE in their schools. Catherine Wood and Diane Stover noted one of the best options is to replace Planned Parenthood-linked CSE with a relationship-affirming sexual risk avoidance curriculum like Relationships Under Construction.
