Under Joe Biden, the Department of Homeland Security has overseen the release of over 23,400 illegal aliens into the United States since February, according to Breitbart.

These illegals were released after they had already been detained at the border for attempting to cross. Of that 23,400, around 15,600 were released in the month of March alone. This is in addition to the thousands of more illegals who have similarly been released by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) over the same period, with the exact numbers currently being unavailable.

The new policy is the direct result of Biden reversing many of the strict but successful immigration policies of President Donald Trump, including the “Remain in Mexico” policy and reinstating “catch-and-release.” As a result of Biden’s campaign promises to open the borders and give illegals numerous taxpayer-funded benefits such as free healthcare, there has been a record number of illegals flooding the southern border since he took office.

As a result, Biden has begun to face bipartisan criticism for his handling of the crisis. Republicans have criticized him for destroying the secure border that President Trump had left behind for him, as well as recklessly letting so many people in without properly testing them for the Chinese coronavirus. Meanwhile, Biden has also been facing criticism from his left over the detention facilities that have been housing such illegals, including children, to the point of overflowing from their intended capacity and forcing them into cramped spaces, which has worsened circumstances for which President Trump was criticized by the Left.
