President Donald Trump visited Northeast Ohio Friday night for a fundraiser after swinging through Wisconsin earlier in the day.
The event was a private fundraising dinner in the Hunting Valley area, but his campaign didn’t disclose any more details.
Air Force One touched down at the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport just before 6 p.m. The president was greeted by a crowd of supporters, and stopped for several minutes to sign autographs and shake hands before departing in his motorcade.
“As President Trump returns to Ohio, his record of results is crystal clear,” said Mandi Merritt, regional communications director for the Republican National Committee (RNC). “Wages are rising, the economy is booming, and jobs are coming back to the state. Just like President Trump has delivered results for Ohio, the Buckeye State will deliver a victory for President Trump in 2020.”
After launching his reelection campaign in Florida last month, Trump raked in an impressive $24.8 million in just 24 hours. That’s more than any of his Democratic competitors raised in the entire first quarter, according to Fox News.
For comparison, former Vice President Joe Biden raised $6.3 million during the 24 hours after announcing his candidacy.
The RNC announced last week that President Trump’s campaign and his joint fundraising entities raised $105 million in the second quarter, with $100 million cash on hand.
“Our massive fundraising success is a testament to the overwhelming support for President Trump,” said Brad Parscale, Trump’s campaign manager. “No Democrat candidate can match this level of enthusiasm or President Trump’s outstanding record of results.”
Ohio’s own Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH-13) announced Friday that his presidential campaign raised just $895,000 during the second quarter.
Trump departed from Cleveland just a few hours after arriving, writing on Twitter that he was “leaving the great state of Ohio.”
