Cleveland City Councilman Basheer Jones Supports Suspending Trump’s Twitter Account

A Cleveland city councilman recently expressed support for suspending President Donald Trump’s Twitter account.

“Look let’s be honest, Donald Trump’s Twitter account should be suspended,” Sen. Kamala Harris, a Democratic presidential candidate, wrote Monday on Twitter, which Councilman Basheer Jones retweeted.

Jones was elected to the Cleveland City Council in November 2017 and represents Ward 7. As The Ohio Star reported, Jones has supported a number of radical policies throughout his tenure. In May he introduced an “emergency resolution” to change Columbus Day to Indigenous Peoples’ Day.

He was a co-sponsor of a September resolution in support of a private initiative to propose a state law that would require universal background checks statewide. He’s also an opponent of an effort to renew the practice of beginning Cleveland City Council meetings with a prayer.

Jones has also retweeted support for the impeachment of President Donald Trump.
