Former Ohio gubernatorial candidate and U.S. Representative Jim Renacci has echoed WarRoom host Steve Bannon’s call on Republican lawmakers in Congress to “stop going home” and instead pass a budget instead of another continuing resolution.
Last November, instead of passing a budget to fund the government, lawmakers passed a continuing resolution to temporarily fund certain government agencies until January 19 and others until February 2.
Now, as both deadlines approach, Congress is reportedly expected to vote on another continuing resolution this week to keep the government open until March and avoid a government shutdown.
Citing a House Republican and another source familiar with the matter, Axios reports that the new continuing resolution “will fund four departments until March 1 and the rest until March 8.”
On Friday, Bannon called House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA-04) a “wimp” for agreeing to funding another continuing resolution.

“The country’s in a crisis,” Bannon said. “Stop going home at 10:45 in the morning with nothing done…”You need a CR? Where were your asses over the three weeks of Christmas? “In fact, you’re not even going to be remembered by history,” Bannon added. “You’re not even going to be remembered by history because you weren’t in the fight in the moment.”
On X, Renacci agreed with Bannon, adding, “Republicans need to stay in DC and get things done.”

Last November’s continuing resolution was opposed by the House Freedom Caucus because, according to the Caucus, it provided “no spending reductions, no border security, and not a single meaningful win for the American People.”
