Mark Levin: ‘Not a Single Democrat Congressman Attended’ Capitol Hill Showing of ‘Sound of Freedom’

Conservative author and host Mark Levin took to Twitter to observe that “not a single Democrat congressman” attended a special showing this week of the true-to-life film Sound of Freedom, arranged by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and to which the speaker invited members of both parties.

Levin explained in his post that, for the first time, he skipped his own radio show Tuesday night to attend a movie:

In 21 years on radio, I have never missed a radio show to watch a movie. Last night, my wife urged me to join her and special viewing of THE SOUND OF FREEDOM on Capitol Hill. Speaker McCarthy invited members of both parties to the special event. Not a single Democrat congressman attended. Not one. We watched this movie, and it will shake you up. It will open your eyes. It will expose the extent of child sex-trafficking not just throughout the globe, but especially in our country.

Levin continued that the Biden administration’s “open-borders” policies have “handed the borders over to the drug cartels, mobster kingpins, kidnappers, and sex-traffickers.”

“Indeed, the level of children sex-trafficking has skyrocketed in the last few years,” he emphasized, pointing out how Democrats and their media allies “have dismissed the movie” by linking it to QAnon conspiracy theories.

“Why would they not want this horror known to the public and help eliminate it?” Levin asked. “Because their politics and policies are dead wrong, and they’re destroying and killing people.”

The conservative firebrand detailed the horrors of child sex trafficking, pointing out that even infants have been trafficked.

“I strongly encourage you to watch the movie, as soon as possible,” Levin told his followers, providing a link to the film’s official trailer.

“Levin joined other conservative critics of President Joe Biden’s open borders policies, notably former President Donald Trump, in encouraging people to see the movie,” observed Paul Bedard at the Washington Examiner.

McCarthy said in a video posted to Twitter Tuesday that his plan to host a screening of Sound of Freedom was motivated by his goal to “open up the House and get members working together again.”

“And so tonight, I’m going to have another movie night,” the speaker continued. “We’re going to show the Sound of Freedom. And Jim Caviezel, who stars in the movie, and Tim Ballard, who the movie is about, and I’m hoping Republicans and Democrats can come together and see a movie about human trafficking. We’re going to actually find ways to stop the human trafficking that’s continuing to move throughout the world.”

Sound of Freedom exposes the sinister world of child trafficking and the efforts of Tim Ballard, a former government agent who left his job to rescue a little girl from sex traffickers in the Columbian jungle.

Ballard, who is played by actor Jim Caviezel (The Passion of the Christ), ultimately created Operation Underground Railroad. This organization rescued over 120 victims – including some children as young as 11 years old – during just one mission.

Angel Studios (The Chosen)—a platform and studio that allows filmmakers to crowdfund, create, and distribute films and TV series throughout the world, is financed by “thousands of Angel investors,” the studio states, noting Friday in a press statement the theater location count for Sound of Freedom is being increased for the fourth consecutive week.

The film “has reached a new theatrical milestone,” Angel Studios says, observing Sound of Freedom “enters its fourth weekend screening in 3,411 theaters, and is crossing the total booking threshold of over 4,000 screens and topping $130M in box office revenue.”

“Everyone in the industry knows that films are generally supposed to lose screens week-over-week, not add them,” said Brandon Purdie, Angel Studios head of theatrical, in a statement. “And yet, the incredible word-of-mouth driving SOUND OF FREEDOM continues to spread. In response, we are continuing to expand our offering in theaters this weekend. Our theatrical partners have stepped up in a huge way to allow for more people to see the film.”

Angel Studios has also extended its Pay It Forward program, whereby fans of the movie can donate funds to allow others to see it in theaters throughout the world.

In August, the film will be able to be viewed in theaters in other countries, including South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, the UK, Ireland, Spain, and Central American and South American countries.

“Since SOUND OF FREEDOM launched in the US, demand has been building around the world in dozens of regions and languages,” Jared Geesey, senior vice president of global distribution for Angel Studios, said in a statement. “Child trafficking is a global issue, and we hope to build on the incredible momentum here in the states and share the film’s powerful message worldwide.”
