Ohio Congressional Candidate Matthew Diemer Suggested Americans Should Buy Electric Vehicles to Avoid Gas Prices

Ohio congressional candidate Matthew Diemer has routinely suggested that Americans, who are struggling to afford high gas prices, should simply purchase an electric vehicle to avoid gas prices.

Diemer has bragged about owning a Tesla, a brand whose cheapest new model costs more than $45,000.

“Gas fueled automobiles are going the way of the dodo. They’re bad for the environment. Cost an arm and a leg every month. And are simply not sustainable in the long run. America needs to accelerate the production of EV’s and they need to do it fast,” the candidate tweeted earlier this year.

Several Biden administration officials have made similar comments. Instead of exploring options to lower the cost of fuel, both Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg argued the costs are a reason for struggling Americans to buy the electric vehicle.

“If you filled up your EV and you filled up your gas tank with gasoline, you would save $60 per fill-up by going electric rather than using gasoline but it’s a very compelling case, but again, we want to bring down the price at the point of purchase,” Granholm said at a time of record prices.

According to CNBC, the average cost for an electric vehicle is $56,437.

However, Ohio residents are being hit with high prices across multiple sectors, not just energy. In fact, one report detailed that inflation under Biden has forced the majority of Americans to utilize their savings in order to afford goods.

Diemer is running against former Trump aide Max Miller in the November midterm election with the goal of representing Ohio’s 7th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.

The Cook Political Report has rated the race as “Solid Republican.”

Back in June, a local Democrat posted on Facebook that people should buy EVs. He even pointed out buying a used one as an option. Now there is a story making the rounds nationally about a family from Florida shocked when the 8 year old EV they bought their daughter only lasted 6 months before it needed $14,000 worth of battery replacement, more than the car’s worth. This needs to be publicized more.

What an idiot!! He’ll not be getting my vote.

If you want me to buy an all-electric car rather than a gas powered car, it means that you are a two-legged cockroach, and someone should step on you.
