A caravan of more than 1,000 migrants crossed illegally into El Paso, Texas, Wednesday as chaos erupted in recent days on the Mexican side in Juarez.

Agents apprehended the group, which was mostly comprised of Venezuelans, Wednesday, El Paso Border Patrol Chief Anthony Good said late Thursday. The incident follows chaos in Juarez, where nearly 40 migrants died Monday in a shelter fire.

Massive Migrant Caravan on Its Way to the U.S. Is Now Forming in Guatemala

A caravan of migrants hoping to enter the U.S. reached the Honduran-Guatemalan border over the weekend, Guatemalan President Alejandro Giammattei’s office told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

The caravan, which is largely composed of Venezuelans, arrived Sunday and had around 2,000 migrants when it began amassing at Guatemala’s border with Honduras in the towns of El Cinchado and Corinto, Giammattei’s spokesman Kevin Oliva told the DCNF.

The leader of recent migrant caravans has helped bring thousands of people through Mexico on a mission he says is driven by God, he told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Luis Rey Garcia Villagran told the DCNF that he’s directly helped 40,000 migrants cross into the United States through caravans he’s led since September 2021, believing it’s his duty to God. He’s done so through the work of his organization, the Center for Human Dignity.

Migrant Caravan Traveling to Southern Border Could Become the Largest Ever

Yet another caravan of illegal aliens is approaching the border between Mexico and the United States, with its numbers rising at such a rate that it could soon become the largest caravan of its kind ever seen.

As reported by Just The News, this caravan started off at a size of between 6,000 and 11,000 illegals when it departed the city of Tapachula, near the border between Mexico and Guatemala, on Monday. Guatemalan officials report that 6,500 migrants are moving from Honduras to the USA. The migrants began pushing through the Guatemalan southern border.

The spokeswoman for Guatemala’s immigration authority, Alejandra Mena, estimated that there were some 6,500 Hondurans crossing the country’s southern border on Saturday, making their way north, with 3,000 to 3,500 of them already in Guatemalan territory.  A Honduran police officer said he observed “more or less 5,000 people” walk past his checkpoint.
