Ohio Tea Party Denounces Political Violence of All Kinds, Reminds Nation of Steve Scalise Shooting

The Ohio TEA Party organization and We the People Convention, released a statement Wednesday denouncing all forms of political violence.

Tom Zawistowski, president of the group, expressed outrage at reports of suspected pipe bombs being sent to prominent Democrats, including billionaire George Soros, former President Barack Obama, 2016 presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and former Attorney General Eric Holder. CNN also reported received a suspicious package as did the San Diego Times-Union.

“We encourage President Trump to use every law enforcement resource available at the federal, state and local levels to identify and find the person or persons responsible for these heinous acts and bring them to justice as soon as possible,” Zawistowski said.

“There is no place in the United States for political violence of any kind. As a TEA Party leader, I am proud of the fact that over the course of the past 10 years, legitimate members of our movement fought through their frustration, and even direct attacks on us personally by the Obama administration, and chose to fight our political fights at the ballot box, not in the streets,” he continued. “We call on leaders across our nation, on the left and on the right, Republicans and Democrats, to stand up right now and firmly condemn anyone who thinks violence of any kind is acceptable.”

The Trump administration did exactly that Wednesday.

Trump vowed Wednesday afternoon that “the full weight of our government is being deployed to conduct this investigation.”

Remember Steve Scalise

Zawistowski reminded the country that political violence has already been waged against House Majority Whip Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA-1), who was gunned down and critically injured by a radical leftist on a baseball field in June 2017. Scalise returned to work more than three months later, and on June 30, 2018, a New York man was arrested and charged with leaving telephone death threats against Scalise and his family, as well as another GOP member of Congress.

“It is not acceptable to shoot Republican congressmen at a baseball practice, it is not acceptable to ‘get in the face’ or assault members of Congress or any American citizen, it is not acceptable for media companies to make excuses for political violence, it is not acceptable to break windows and set on fire political offices, it is not acceptable to make bombs or send letters with white powder to elected officials who do not agree with you politically,” Zawistowski said.

Zawistowski said too few political leaders have spoken out against the growing acrimony in today’s political rhetoric, which is seen by many as a call to violence.

Those who remain silent are just as guilty, he said.

“The fact is we have come to this point because our political leaders on all sides, and our law enforcement agencies, have failed us for the most part up to this point. Too few have spoken out,” he said. “Too few of the people conducting violence have been stopped or arrested and made an example of in places like Ferguson, Baltimore, Charlottesville, Berkeley and now Portland, Oregon.”

To most Americans, he said, it’s become readily apparent that lawlessness is replacing the rule of law.

Unfortunately, conservative Americans no longer trust the FBI and Department of Justice to act impartially, Zawistowski said. He added a note of caution that there may be more to the story about the mailed explosive devices.

He concluded with a dire warning:

This lawlessness has taken place with impunity – including lawlessness by the majority of the senior members of our FBI and DOJ and other government agencies. Unfortunately, for those of us on the right, we no longer trust the FBI or the Department of Justice to investigate something like these attempted bombings and quite frankly we are concerned that much of what is taking place in our nation is even orchestrated by people in our government for political purposes. We never wanted to believe that, but their actions have undermined their credibility to the point where it is impossible for us to believe anything else. We are a nation ruled by law, not by men, and if the law is not enforced, either on our streets or on our border or in our government, and it is not being fairly enforced right now, only one result is possible – people will be killed. We ask all Americans, and all political leaders, and all government officials, to understand that we must stop this incivility right now or we all will pay a terrible price going forward.”

  1. Tom. as pretty much all the time is right folks. He needs to be recruited to run for federal office. He’d be a good one. My opinion is, this whole thing this week MAY VERY WELL BE, again I say, MAY very well be a false flag incident dreamed up and financed by the left. My Gut Feeling tells me that. I hope I’m wrong.
