Ohio State Rep. Galonski Wants The Hague to Prosecute President Trump Over His Coronavirus Response

An Ohio state representative says she wants to subject America’s sitting president to an international tribunal at The Hague over President Donald Trump’s response to the coronavirus.

State Rep. Tavia Galonski (D-OH-35) from Akron tweeted, “I can’t take it anymore. I’ve been to The Hague. I’m making a referral for crimes against humanity tomorrow. Today’s press conference was the last straw. I know the need for a prosecution referral when I see one.”

The Hague in the Netherlands is home to the International Court of Justice, or the World Court of the United Nations.

Galonski’s Twitter profile says she has a law degree and is a former Teamster and chair of the Ohio Women’s Caucus.

Galonski drew praise from fellow liberals but also led some to question her legal knowledge.

One Twitter user said, “Who wants to tell this genius (currently representing Ohio as a State rep) that the United States is not a part of the Rome Statute maybe you can help her @SecPompeo @StateDept This is really embarrassing @OHdems you should at least have your Reps learn basic law.”

Another Twitter user pointed out the difficulty Interpol might have in a nation full of gun owners.

“The Hague? You envision Interpol arresting and extraditing @realDonaldTrump, either now or after he completes his second term? In the most heavily individually armed nation in the history of man?”

Another response was: “The ignorance of governance from people who are in the government is astounding.”
