Trump Blasts Tim Ryan on Twitter the Day After He Ended His Presidential Campaign

President Donald Trump took to Twitter Friday to mock Ohio Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH-13) presidential efforts a day after he ended his bid for the White House.

“So Congressman Tim Ryan of Ohio has finally dropped out of the race for President, registering ZERO in the polls & unable to even qualify for the debate stage,” Trump said. “See Tim, it’s not so easy out there if you don’t know what you’re doing. He wasn’t effective for USA workers, just talk!”

In a follow-up tweet, Trump took a dig at the Ohio representative and another failed presidential candidate Eric Swalwell (D-CA-15) by  saying both politicians “stood for nothing.”

“Another big dropout of the Presidential race was, along with 0% Tim Ryan, 0% @RepSwalwell. Such talk and bravado from both, and nothing to show,” the president said. “They stood for nothing, and the voters couldn’t stand by them. Obnoxious and greedy politicians never make it in the end!”

Responding to Trump’s criticism, Ryan tweeted a picture of a recently deserted Lordstown Complex parking lot and asked the president to work for someone than himself.

“This is the view from where I live Mr. President. Empty parking lot. Used to be thousands of jobs. All on your watch. You said not to sell our houses. Same with FoxComm, Carrier. You don’t care about us. Put your phone down & start doing some work for someone other than yourself.”

The Ohio representative launched his campaign back in April, but failed to gain traction as a presidential candidate. Ryan did not qualify for recent Democratic debates, which factored into his decision to drop out on Thursday.

“I’m proud of this campaign because I believe we’ve done that. We’ve given voice to the forgotten communities and the forgotten people in the United States. And while it didn’t work out quite the way we planned, this voice will not be stifled,” he said. “I will continue to advocate and fight for the working people of this country.”

Ryan will now turn his focus to running for Ohio’s Thirteenth Congressional District seat, which he has represented since 2003.
