Ohio’s Citizens for Community Values announced Friday that pro-family advocate Tom Minnery has been named as the organization’s new chairman of the Board of Directors.
“CCV is incredibly blessed to succeed a leader like Joe Trauth with Tom Minnery,” CCV President Aaron Baer said in a press release. “As CCV prepares to aggressively grow and take on new challenges, we are thrilled to have Tom leading our Board. Tom brings a wealth of wisdom to our efforts to advance public policy, strategically grow, and glorify God.”
Minnery previously served as president of CitizenLink as well as vice president of public policy at Focus on the Family. He was also a founding member of Alliance Defending Freedom’s Board of Directors, and senior editor of Christianity Today.
“For 35 years, Citizens for Community Values has been recognized nationally as a leader in advancing the pro-family cause,” Minnery said Friday. “Under Aaron’s leadership, the organization is poised to boldly take this work to new heights for the next generation.”
Citizens for Community Values campaigned aggressively against Issue 1 in Ohio during the midterms, which 63 percent of Ohioans ultimately rejected. Days before the election, the pro-family organization conducted a bus tour across the state advocating against Issue 1, arguing that criminal-justice reform shouldn’t come through a constitutional amendment.
The organization is also a vocal advocate for Ohio’s pro-life “heartbeat bill,” and is leading a campaign to encourage Ohioans to contact their senators to vote in favor of the legislation.
Citizens for Community Values is closely allied with the Alliance Defending Freedom, the Family Research Council, and the Family Policy Alliance, all of which are frequently maligned by the far-left Southern Poverty Law Center.
Prior to joining Citizens for Community Values, Minnery helped form the Family Policy Council with Dr. James Dobson, and is now composed of 40 national organizations.
